Hi God, it's just me again.
by Agatha Weeks

Hi God, it's just me again.
Can you hear me knocking?
Won't you let me in?

I know it's been too long a time
since I last spoke your name,
but I'm begging you will hear my prayer,
and forgive me once again.

I go about my selfish life
neglecting you each day,
but let troubles slip into my life,
then once again I bow my head and say.....

"Hi God, it's just me again.
Can you hear me knocking?
Won't you let me in"?

I know it's been too long a time
since I last spoke your name,
but I'm begging you will hear my prayer,
and forgive me once again.

Then a surge of warmth engulfed me,
a calmness entered my dreary soul,
and once again you opened the door,
and again you made me whole.

Now that I'm feeling good again,
I place you back upon the shelf,
and once again I over indulge in life's pleasures,
thinking only of myself.

After awhile my heart grew heavy,
and I was burdened with so much pain,
and once again I turned to you,
and said very much the same.

"Hi God, it's just me again.
Can you hear me knocking?
Won't you let me in?

I know it's been too long a time
since I last spoke your name,
but I'm begging you will hear my prayer,
and forgive me once again.

Then again a surge of warmth engulfed me,
a calmness entered my dreary soul,
for once again you opened the door,
and again you made me whole.

Still I didn't learn my lesson,
for again I took the plunge.
I jumped into the lustful life,
along with everyone.

I ate, drank, and was merry,
and partied every day.
I closed my eyes to you Oh God,
and chose instead to play.

Then on one dark and dreary winter night,
after partying all night long,
I got into my little car,
and headed straight for home.

Along the way I lost control,
and ran into a tree.
My aching body was wretched with pain;
time was running out for me.

Trembling, I looked into the dreary night sky,
and even though it was hard to see, I saw at a distance,
a star shining bright; it was so very comforting to me.
Then I said one last time.......

"Hi God, it's me again.
Can you hear me knocking?
Won't you let me in?

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you,
although I've done it time and time again".
Then right before drawing my very last breath,
you answerd me once again.

"Oh my son I hear you knocking, and yes,
I forgive you once again.
My doors are always open;
won't you come on in"?

With open arms you embraced me
as I entered the door,
and a feeling of peace came over me
like I'd never felt before.

Then a surge of warmth engulfed me,
a calmness entered my dreary soul,
for once again you opened the door,
and again you made me whole.
